Tibetan Valley, holy lakes, and Sherpa villages

A moderately difficult trek, in a wild area yet close to Kathmandu. Surrounded by less-known summits, in a splendid alpine nature, the region has remained authentic. From Syabru Besi, we first reach the high Langtang glacial valley between Sherpas villages and monasteries like Kyanjin Gompa. And after a few days of acclimatization at the foot of many peaks over 7000 m., including the Langshisa Ri, we leave for the sacred lake of Gosainkunda at more than 4000 m. high. It is a Hindu pilgrimage place dedicated to Lord Shiva, located under Langtang Lirung (7245 m.) and a dazzling mountain cirque. After crossing the Laurebina Pass (4600 m.), the highest point of the trek, the landscape changes during our descent to Helambu. It turns into lush countryside, with small monasteries, chortens and prayer flags serving as landmarks. We stop among the terraced crops and rhododendron and juniper forests.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Beautiful views of the Himalayan Range, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, etc.
- Walking through many Tamang, Sherpa, Brahman and Newari villages
- An authentic trek with 3 distinct zones in a less traveled area.
- The holy lake of Gosainkunda, known for its annual festival during Janai Purnima
