EVEREST BASE CAMP & KALA PATTHAR

Designed for all those who dream of going to the foot of Everest and who only have two weeks, this trek, skilfully paced, travels through Sherpa country to base camp and Kala Patthar!

It is by air that we reach the gates of Khumbu, the Everest region. 45 minutes of spectacular flight over the Himalayan giants to disembark at Lukla, where we slowly start our hike. We reach Namche Bazar, a trading town between Tibet and the Sherpa country, located at 3,440 m above sea level. The opportunity to take a day's acclimatization break. Then we enter the Khumbu valley, into the sphere of giants, sometimes icy, mythical peaks. Superb dry stone villages, numerous manis and stupas, monasteries perched as close as possible to the skies mark out our route ... beneath the blessing of three peaks over 8000: Everest (8 848m), Makalu (8 475m), Lhotse ( 8,383m), not forgetting Pumori (7,145m), Nuptse (7,879m), Ama Dablam (6,856m) ...

Day

Arrival in Kathmandu, welcome and transfer to the hotel.

Appointment with the guide. According to the composition of the group the departure for Ramechhap can be organized around 14:00 to spend the night there in a lodge.

If not gone Ramechap a day before : Departure by night shuttle at 03: 00 am for Ramechhap airport departure for Lukla (4-5h drive)
The early morning flight from Ramechhap to Lukla offers a panoramic view of the eastern Himalayas; Langtang, Gauri, Shanker, Numbur, Manglungtse, and finally Everest appear during this 45-minute flight. In Lukla (2700 m), the Sherpas are waiting for us with the equipment.
The trek begins with a short descent to the Dudh Khosi Valley.
From the village of Chaunrikarka (2621 m), the path heads north through the Sherpa villages where wheat, potatoes, corn and vegetables are grown. We cross the Dudh Khosi on a suspension wooden bridge.

This day we begin with a walk along the Dudh-Kosi. The path climbs gently. Several times we cross the river. After Jorsale (2805 m) start a steep climb to Namche-Bazar. Half an hour later, we can see Everest. We arrive in Namche early enough to discover this famous Sherpa village and its inhabitants. Some Tibetan shops and traders sell jewelry and handicraft from Tibet. Every week an important market in Namche bring farmers from the surrounding area to sell wheat, corn, millet, etc.

Acclimatization and rest day in Namche (3440 m).

Above Namche Bazar, a gently sloping path on the mountainside towards Mong Pass, overlooking Ama-Dablan and Kantega, two of Nepal's most spectacular peaks. We then descend to Phortse-Tenga at 3600 m along the Milky River (Dudh-koshi) and uphill till Phortse village (3800 m). A perfect walk for acclimatization to altitude.

Slow and steady climb up the Khumbu Valley to Pangboche dominated by the Ama-Dablam. For 1:30 h, we follow the inijakhola river through Shomare, and then the LobucheKhola to Pheriche.

Easy walk for 1 hour, then the trail climbs gently to Thokla (4,620 m), and forwards to the Thokla Pass (4830 m), where many chortens (stupas) carry the in memory of the deceased on Everest expeditions. The path is rocky until Lobuche.

Following the Khumbu glacier; the climb is relatively easy until Gorakshep. Rest in a lodge and in the afternoon, optional excursion to Everest Base Camp and return to Gorakshep.

Departure early morning to Kalapthar (5545 m) to enjoy the view. We are in the heart of a huge amphitheater surrounded by the highest and most prestigious summits of the world in the mineral universe of the high mountains. Descent to Dingboche.

Downhill to Pangboche where we can find one of the oldest gompas (Monastery)  of Nepal. We cross forest and villages on the way and downhiil to Tengboche, the spiritual heart of Khumbu. Magnificent site dominated by mt.Ama-Dablam.

Long descent to the Milky River and up to Sanasa before lunch in Namche and afternoon walk downwards to Monjo village, where we overnight.
