Trek Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda
Tibetan valley, sacred lakes & Sherpa villages
The best alternative to the popular Everest and Annapurna treks which usually get crowded is the Langtang- Gosaikunda trek, north of Kathmandu. It is also an easier trek that attracts more of the older generation. Altitudes on this trek are moderate not rising over 4,600m, making it suitable for first-timers.
Tibetan Valley, holy lakes, and Sherpa villages
A comparatively easier trek in a region of unique landscape not far from Kathmandu, the Langtang – Gosaikunda trek offers a good alternative away from popular destinations. Surrounded by lesser-known summits, in splendid alpine surroundings, the region has remained largely pristine. From Syabrubesi, we cross the river via a suspension bridge and enter the high Langtang glacial valley passing through Lama Hotel (the settlement is known as Lama Hotel) and Ghoda Tabela on our way to Kyanjin Gompa, a settlement with close-up views of Mountains including Langtang Lirung (7,245 m). After a few days of acclimatization at the foot of these peaks over 7000 m, we leave for the sacred lake of Gosainkunda at an altitude of more than 4000 m. The icy lake is a Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva. After crossing the Laurebina Pass (4,600 m), the highest point on the trek, the landscape changes during our descent to Helambu. From icy slopes, it turns into the lush green countryside, with small monasteries, chortens and prayer flags as landmarks. We stop among the terraced hillsides, rhododendron and juniper forests.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Beautiful views of the Himalayan range, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, etc.
- Walking through many Tamang, Sherpa, Brahmin, and Newar villages.
- A unique trek in a less-travelled area.
- The holy lake of Gosainkunda, known for its annual festival during Janai Purnima.

We are very happy to have been accompanied by Surya, who is a very attentive, careful and sincere guide. He has adapted our days to our physical condition and our difficulties, and also he was able to handle with weather changes conditions.
Johann Terrier Trip (Voyage) : Trek Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda Date of Trip : du 19/10 au 3/11 2019
Everything was perfect for us - from the layout, to the accommodation, guide and experience more generally.
- The course was indeed very nice because varied even if not very difficult. We usually finish the stages quite early because it seems that we were rather faster than the forecasts but it was perfect for us because we left a little later than the others in the morning, arrived earlier and therefore had time to explore our point of arrival or simply to relax. Ashok adapted to us and understood that sometimes we wanted to move a little faster
- No problem with accommodation and meals on the course
- Ashok was very attentive and attentive. Indeed it was very clear that he observed us the first days and when we gained higher altitudes to see how we reacted to the effort. He was also very attentive and brought us fresh fruit at the end of each meal. A little attention that made jealous ????
- Our carrier (Binod), who had been there for the first time, was also perfect. Despite our speed slightly higher than others, it almost always arrived almost at the same time as us. He always had a smile.
- Ashok also knew how to adapt to us and our desires. At times we spent long hours exchanging, joking or chatting ... then for a few hours we simply wanted to enjoy in silence. I would say that overall he has great human intelligence.
- Finally he has a contagious good mood and it was clear that he even made laugh all the other guides and tenants of the various lodges.
You will understand that we are delighted with our trip and will recommend the agency without any problem!
Thank you again and good luck
