A TIBETAN GETAWAY

This trip takes you to all the prominent spiritual places in and around Lhasa that propagate Tibetan Buddhism in its highest form. It’s a great opportunity to get a glimpse of priceless art and well preserved holy books. Then a 100km drive takes you over a high pass to see the sacred Yamdrok Lake.

Lhasa is a city rich in Tibetan culture and despite the ‘cultural revolution’ many magnificent monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism have been well preserved and still embody the greatness of Tibetan Buddhism in its original form. Priceless books and ancient masterpieces have survived for centuries and are on display in the monasteries spread around the country. We also visit remote places that are off the beaten track and seen by very few visitors, such as the sacred Lake Yamdrok which is over 72 km long and fed by streams emanating from the snow-capped mountains. Driving along the Tibetan plateau gives you an impression of the vastness of Tibet.
