Day
Arrival at Gonkar Airport where a local assistant will be waiting for you. 1 h 30 min. drive to Lhasa (3650 m). Installation and acclimatization walk in the old town.

Visit to Lhasa's famous sites: the Potala Palace, which was the seat of the Dalai Lama until 1959 and houses an impressive collection of Buddhist works of art, At 2 minutes from our hotel in the heart of the old city, the Jokhang Temple, where pilgrims come from the confines of the Tibetan world.

Morning hike to the large monastic university of Drepung which sheltered more than 7000 monks in a maze of chapels, temples and oratories. In the afternoon, visit to the Monastic University of Sera where rhetorical contests and philosophical debates always take place.

Visit known and less known sites of Lhasa: the Potala Palace which was the seat of the Dalai Lama until 1959 and which houses an impressive collection of works of Buddhist art, 2 minutes from our hotel in the heart of the old town, the temple of Jokhang where pilgrims come from the confines of the Tibetan world etc.

Discovery of the Turquoise Lake (Yamdrok) in a mountain setting where yaks and sheep graze. Picnic at the lake. Then we cross the Karola Pass (5200 m). We pass at the foot of the imposing glacier Noijin Kangsang.

In the morning, visit to Gyantse, one of the most beautiful villages of central Tibet where farmers and ranchers meet in a picturesque market. Visit to the monastery with extraordinary frescoes and a famous stupa (Kumbum) with 72 chapels. In the afternoon, drive to Shigatse (1h 30). In the late afternoon, visit to the monastery of Tashilhunpo, headquarters of the Panchen Lama. Then, we walk in the market where we could find some beautiful and fake antiques.
