Discovering the historic cities of the Kathmandu Valley. Getting lazy in Pokhara. This diverse journey holds moments of wonder and contemplation from the snowy peaks of the Himalayas to the jungle of Terai. This trip combines cultural discovery, participation in an important festival of Nepal, ride and sports activity (mountain biking & rafting).

We first immerse ourselves in the Kathmandu Valley:

We dive into the bustling valley of Kathmandu. The fascinating visits to Swayambhunath and Bouddhanath (the two oldest Buddhist stupas in the valley) and to Pashupatinath (a 12th century Hindu site dedicated to Shiva) illustrate the two religions that are often one in the Nepalese syncretism. Still more emotions in Bhaktapur, the most beautiful medieval city of the valley and immersion during a homestay Panauti where we will be associated to the celebration of the festival of Tihar.

Then, we head to Pokhara and have two days of excursion in the villages sheltered by Machhapuchhare!

Tihar: the festival of light is a time of rejoicing that takes place at the time of Kartik's new moon and corresponds to the New Year New Year according to the Nepal Sambat calendar. These five days of rites are undertaken to avoid being called back by Yama (the god of death) during the new year. It is also at this time that rice is harvested and you can measure your luck by playing. Laxhmi (the goddess of fortune) is not faithful and it will be necessary to know what will be the fate of each one for the year to come.
